3 days Marrakech desert itinerary:

DAY 1 : MARRAKECH – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE – DADES

3 days Marrakech desert tour departure: We collect you on the first morning of the tour either from your Marrakech accommodation or, if necessary, from the airport. Departing the city towards the High Atlas, we traverse the beautiful Tizi-N-Tichka mountain pass at a height of 2260 meters. Traveling further south, we will visit the famous kasbah of Ait Ben-Haddou (a UNESCO World Heritage site) where we can take lunch and refreshments. We continue in the direction of Ouarzazate (the “Hollywood of Morocco”), through the palm oasis of Skoura and the Valley of Roses before finally arriving at the Dades Valley. Here we will take a walking tour of the magnificent Dades Gorge and stay overnight at a comfortable hotel.

DAY 2 : DADES – TODRA GORGE – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart the Dades Valley with ample opportunity along the way to take photographs and admire the stunning panoramic views. Arriving at the beauty spot of Todra Gorge, we will stop to enjoy a coffee or typical mint tea before continuing south towards the oasis city of Erfoud (famous for its date palms and prehistoric fossils). From Erfoud, we journey on to Merzouga and the famous sand dunes of Erg Chebbi (the largest due system in Morocco). Here we swap four wheels for four legs as we camel-trek across the dunes to a typical Bedouin desert camp. Arriving in time to watch the sunset, we will spend an unforgettable night at the nomad encampment; a delicious traditional tajine dinner is provided before you are invited to enjoy traditional singing and dancing beneath the desert stars.

DAY 3 : MERZOUGA – RISSANI – DRAA VALLEY – MARRAKECH.

After watching the sun rise above the dunes and enjoying a nourishing breakfast, we leave the desert camp and trek back to the Merzouga hotel where we can shower and refresh. We depart Merzouga heading towards the desert town of Rissani, where we visit its famous and colorful souk market. We travel via the Draa Valley with plenty of opportunity to stop for photographs, refreshments or to admire the stunning scenery. We pass through the city of Agdz before crossing the mountains of the Anti-Atlas and finally arriving in Marrakech in the late evening where we can transfer you to your accommodation.

4 days Marrakech to Fes desert trip itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges

4 days Marrakech to Fes desert tour departure: We will pick you up at 8 am, then travel over the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m/7414 f) while enjoying superb views of the mountains and of the Berber villages on the way. Stop for lunch and tour in the World heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. (This famous kasbah was used as a backdrop for more than 20 films.) Pass through Ouarzazate and continues Towards the Valley of Roses and the Dades valley, Skoura oisis with its authentic 17-century kasbah, the valley of a thousand Kasbahs and the Dades Gorge. Stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 2: Dades Gorge – Merzouga Camel trek Night in Desert Camp.

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart to the Todra Gorge: a massive fault, rising to 300 m in a narrow valley with thickstudded palmeries and Berber Villages. After lunch in the gorge, we will drive to the great sand dunes of Erg Chebbi Where will you take a camel ride (about one hour and a half) in order to get to your tents Nomadic Berber, dinner, camp fire, drum party and overnight stay in the desert.

Day 3: Camel Trekking back to Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate.

After breakfast, you will go all the way round the dunes via the oasis of MERZOUGA, the nomadic depository, KHAMLIA village (Blacks’ village You’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations, you’ll leave for Rissani. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuktu in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. After a lunch pizza in Rissani you will travel back to your riad where where your camel will be awaiting you. After a glass of mint tea. After lunch we will make our way to start our camel trek. All unnecessary luggage can be left in safe rooms at the hotel. camel trek will take us to a Berber camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the highest in North Africa. The camp consists of several comfortable Berber tents equipped with mattresses and linen, a restaurant, and a kitchen. The evening will consist of dinner followed by entertainment provided by Berber drums, ( unforgettable night).

Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifran – Fez.

Before sunrise, our camel warden will wake you to ascend the dunes and find the sun emerge above the horizon. During the winter season, when the days are short, we will start the camel trek and on route pause to meet the sunrise. Arriving at the hotel we will be able to have showers and breakfast, before continuing our journey to Fez.

We leave Merzouga en route to Fez, passing through many places: Arfoud, Errachidia, Ziz Valley, Meditlt, Cedar Forests of Azrou, Ifrane, and Fez. On a good day, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the monkeys that live in the forests. We will stop for lunch along the way in one of the many restaurants. Our guide will make sure you reach your chosen Riad or Hotel. Here we will leave at your Riad or Hotel at the end of the 3 days tour. 3 days Marrakech to Fes desert trip itinerary:

DAY 1 : MARRAKECH – AIT BEN HADDOU – DADES GORGE

We aim for an early departure for our 3 days Marrakech to Fes desert tour, heading south towards the High Atlas Mountains. At the scenic Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass (altitude 2260m) we briefly stop for coffee and a visit to the Argan oil cooperative. Continuing on through the changing landscape of south Morocco, we stop for lunch at the UNESCO World Heritage site Ait Ben-Haddou, the most famous kasbah in Morocco. Leaving Ait Ben Haddou we continue south to Skoura, an oasis town where ancient kasbahs are surrounded by vast palm groves. From here the route takes us through Kalaat M’Gouna in the Valley of the Roses with an opportunity to sample the many cosmetic products crafted from the abundant roses. We will continue to the Dades Gorge where dinner and accommodation is arranged in a riverside hotel.

DAY 2 : DADES GORGE – TODRA GORGE – MERZOUGA

After breakfast, we head for the stunning natural formations of Todra Gorge where we take a short walking tour of dramatic rock walls rising up to 300m. Departing the gorge, we head further south to the desert dunes of Merzouga. Here we enjoy the traditional welcome of mint tea before swapping four wheels for four legs as we camel-trek to Erg Chebbi – the highest sand dunes in North Africa. Arriving in time for an unforgettable sunset, a traditional tajine dinner and evening entertainment is provided by your nomadic hosts. You are invited to enjoy the sound of typical Berber drumming around the fire or simply to gaze at the ceiling of stars in the pristine desert sky before bedding down in your traditional Bedouin encampment.

DAY 3 : MERZOUGA – IFRANE – FEZ

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart Merzouga traveling north through the picturesque Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas Mountains on the road to Fez. En route, we cross the Grand cedar forests of Azrou where lucky visitors can feed the wild Barbary apes in their natural habitat. We will continue to Ifrane, a high-altitude town known as the ‘Switzerland of Morocco’ for its high-altitude and Alpine climate, and finally arrive in Fez in the evening time.
